Piano and Accordion
Online and in Person
My piano students receive all the care and encouragement I can give! You will learn techniques that will allow you to express yourself beautifully, and I will adapt my method to suit your needs. Each student is given video notes that can be watched later, making practice less of a mystery. I am available between lessons for any questions.
Cello Lessons in Person
Haven't you always wanted to play the cello? Each lesson includes practical and theoretical instruction in my studio in the Scottish Highlands, along with plenty of time to put your new knowledge into practice. Students become part of a local group of cello players and are given regular opportunities to perform in ensembles. Everyone has a part to play!
Early Childhood Music Classes
Based on the revolutionary work of Kodaly, Colourstrings Music Kindergarten is a place where children are happily immersed in music. The four years of instruction they receive will prepare them beautifully for private lessons on any instrument. Classes are arranged by age, from newborn up through age six, and take place in Ullapool, Scotland.
Music Theory Instruction
Do you need to pass a theory exam, your Higher Music, or do you just want to learn to read music? I can help! Fun games and stories will help you remember theory concepts and the learning is hands-on. Individual and group instruction available.

A Dedicated Music Teacher
A graduate of Xavier University, Christy has taught Music in the best independent schools in the US and the UK--most recently at Gordonstoun. She has helped students prepare for their Higher Music and Grade 8 ABRSM Exams, with the latter passing in Cello with distinction. With a background in Kodaly and Early Childhood Music Education, Christy loves to break down concepts and techniques for all ages so that they can be more easily grasped.

Betty Guenther
Betty is a composer who teaches piano and music theory. She wrote a book of ragtime pieces based on the Hanon Exercises, which was published by Boston Music. Betty loves to write and play works for two pianos.e She is

Maria Grafenstein Guenther
Mary taught in a one-room schoolhouse on the plains of North Dakota. She memorized and recited huge tracts of poetry to keep her mind occupied while milking cows. Mary was also a published author.
